Goat milker, dishwasher, oil field roustabout, asphalt layer, whitewater raft guide, guitar maker, and a too long career in the world's second oldest profession — advertising. Dubious credentials for a sailing instructor? Probably. Yet through it all he's managed to sail, starting at 8 years old in a boat dredged up from the bottom of the LA Harbor by his father. Since then, he's made every sailing blunder there is to be made in places like Turkey, Spain, up and down the Caribbean, Washington, the Chesapeake Bay, and their many weird but wonderful taverns.
