Biography

It all started for me in 1992 when I was invited out on a 40 foot sailboat chartered right here at OCSC. My first time ever on a sailboat was on that July 4th which turned out to be an awe inspiring afternoon and evening. Out in the elements on the deck of a sailboat experiencing the beauty of San Francisco Bay gave me a new perspective. I was bitten by the sailing bug and soon began taking sailing lessons on dinghies, at first, and then keelboats at Cal Sailing Club.

I have been actively sailing since then and have sailed on boats from 14 feet up to 40 feet--mostly sailing in San Francisco Bay, but also the Northern California coast, the west coast of Mexico, and the Caribbean. Before I began teaching at OCSC, I regularly taught as a volunteer instructor at Cal Sailing Club.
