Why People Choose OCSC?
We know that there are plenty of other places to host a team building event, but here are some reasons why so many people choose OCSC:
We know the ropes. With 27 years of experience in the training business, we understand what it takes to help people achieve their objectives. Time and time again, our sailing students take to the water with phenomenal communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
Over 20 years ago, we recognized that the parallels between sailing and business were not superficial, so we got into the corporate training field. Now, our business faculty with years of management and leadership experience can help you get the results you dream about.
The OCSC business faculty comes from a variety of backgrounds and brings decades of real business experience in communications, problem solving, team development and leadership. Each individual is acting on their passion to support growth and development, recognizing that sailing isn't just a metaphor for business, it's a parallel universe.
Then don't forget OCSC's sailing instructors -- all are licensed by the US Coast Guard and have years of experience skippering boats in the roughest seas in the world.
OCSC Sailing is located right on San Francisco Bay, directly across from the Golden Gate Bridge in the Berkeley Marina. Within minutes of casting off, you can be out in some of the best wind in the world. But it's not just the breeze that makes this place so special -- the tides, the currents, the marine activity on the Bay, and the views make it an incredibly rewarding place to sail, and challenging, too. It is often said that if you can sail on San Francisco Bay, you can sail almost anywhere. And then when you sail with us, you're just a glorious short voyage away from premiere destinations like Angel Island, the Golden Gate Bridge, and Sausalito.
You just can't get much better than our club room for special events. With its commanding views of the Golden Gate Bridge, the Bay Bridge, the city of San Francisco, and Angel Island, visitors are instantly charmed. It's a great place to gather for trainings, lectures, seminars, and celebrations. Two large, well-equipped breakout rooms are also available for additional meeting space.
OCSC's campus also includes three docks in the Berkeley Marina, a pro shop, an outdoor patio and picnic areas. Our fleet of 50 instruction and charter boats are all docked just a few steps away from the main building.
OCSC has over 50 professionally-maintained boats in the charter fleet, ranging in size from 24’ to 82’. Our fleet offers everything from training boats to sport boats for day sails to large yachts ideal for extended overnight cruises.
OCSC knows it's not all about sailing -- we're also deeply committed to making a difference in the world that we live in. Consciousness of environmental and social causes is part of our guiding policy, so we point our resources toward the greatest possible impact in both our local community and overseas. We support two specific causes: protecting the world's fragile oceans and giving disadvantaged children access to swimming and boating.
It's no accident that we've been named as one of the Bay Areas best 100 companies to work for: We treat our people just as well as we treat our clients. One of our core beliefs is that how people in an organization are treated reflects how others will be treated as clients of an organization. We are exactly what you see: friendly, sincere, welcoming, and principled.
