Hadzabe people were the first to be known in Tanzania. Out of a community of 1000 persons, only 300 to 400 have kept a traditional way of living. Gathered on the shores of Eyasi Lake, those keepers of the past live from hunting & gathering. Refusing to grow any vegetable or raise any stock, Hadzabe people live from day to day, taking what Nature has to offer.
Without a Tanzanian guide, meeting the Hadzabes would be really hard. He will indeed be your interpret since these people speak their own language, “clic” language which none of us is familiar with.
Your day: Early morning, departure from your lodge.
Once in the village, you will be welcomed and offered to share Hadzabes’ daily activities: hunting and gathering. Hadzabes have no equal as regard hunting abilities, watching them is really amazing! Their main preys are small mammals (hares, rabbits, baboons) as well as birds or even small antelopes.
This shared moment is also a way to exchange with the last representatives of the world as it was several thousand years ago. Without doubt: one of the highlights of your trip.
Back to the lodge for lunch. Afternoon at leisure.
Depart from your lodge after breakfast and head to the park gate.
Part of the Unesco World Heritage, this place is undoubtedly the most famous African sanctuary.
The crater is a unique place in the world, 20 km wide and home of hundreds of different species all protected by a 600m wall.
All the big African mammals can be found in the crater: Big cats, Elephants, Hippos and last but not least, Rhinos.
Spend a whole day exploring the caldera with picnic lunch break around the lake.
Close to the famous Olduvai Gorge (cradle of mankind), lies the world renowned Olduvai Camp.

17 state of the “bush-art” en suite tents, superb bar & dining area.
Feel the “Safaris of the past” atmosphere, enjoy interacting & walking with the Masai, learn more about early men who once stood up in the Gorge…There’s so much to see & do around Olduvai !!..
Dinner & Overnight at Olduvai Camp
This day is the opportunity to learn more about the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
Find out more about the Ngorongoro Conservation Area (NCA): as opposed to a traditional National Park, men are allowed to live there and Maasai villages can be found in this area. Other interests in this area are the Olduvai site and its museum, the Shifting Sands, Olduvai & Olkarien gorges, Nassera Rock.
Plans for the day include a visit to Olduvai Museum where the Museum director will be honoured to tell you a bit more about the site of Olduvai and the works of various anthropologists as well as a visit to a nearby Maasai village to learn more about this great people’s way of life.
Great walks can also be organized in the NCA (easy walks to day trekkings with local Masai guides)
In the morning, head to Serengeti National Park and explore what is probably the greatest park on earth…
This park, undoubtedly the most famous in the world, covers over 14 000 sq. km and offers amongst many other things the biggest concentration of big cats in the world (Cheetahs, Lions, Leopards, Wild cats…).
Many different landscapes can be found in the Serengeti: Savannah with the big plains to the south, the hills & woods to the west, the kopjes area to the east, and bush land to the north. Important rivers (Seronera, Banagi, Grumeti) also run through the park and many different species of mammals can be spotted around these (Elephants, Buffalos, Giraffes, antelopes…). Hippos and crocodiles can also be found.
Lunch box or at your camp.
Located on the edge of the Serengeti national park, Grumeti Hill enjoys a unique panorama and an environment rich in wildlife.
