Turkey Flotilla Turkey Flotilla Turkey Flotilla Turkey Flotilla

Sailing in Turkey can be as active as you like; from swimming in the crystal clear turquoise waters, snorkeling and diving to relaxing on deck with a book, savoring the next delicious meal and spending time with your party. Photographers, historians, sailors, sunworshippers and water babies, the young and old alike, will all find inspiration in this amazing adventure

The Turkish Coast

Its dramatic coastline of sharp ravines and plunging, cave-ridden cliffs contrasted with the many picturesque anchorages, turquoise seas and vibrant oasis towns set against the towering Taurus Mountains hold endless appeal. Not only an idyllic cruising region that now boasts many yachting facilities, it is also an inspiring cultural center with an absorbing past and plethora of Roman, Greek, and Lycian ruins right by the boat to be climbed and explored. The marvelous markets and bazaars overflow with intriguing Eastern goods as well as abundant produce from the fertile valleys. Here religious practices are relaxed and the prices are affordable, and best of all is the wonderful welcome of its hard-working, fun-loving, extroverted people.

Favorable Winds And Permanent Sunshine

Turkey is heralded by sailors from around the world as an outstanding yachting destination -- no surprise considering sunny skies, tranquil waters and favorable winds are virtually sure things. You will visit places unlike any other you've ever seen as you chart a course along the prime cruising grounds of Turkey's fabled Lycian Coast. From cliff-lined shores to ancient tombs to crystal-clear waters, this is truly a one-of-a-kind sailing adventure. Sunshine, fair winds and friendly, welcoming people make sailing in Turkey a real pleasure. Whilst tourism has touched areas of this fascinating country, much of Turkey’s southern coastline remains completely unspoiled -- many of the beautiful spots are still only accessible by boat.

Orhaniye Start

A Turkey sailing vacation is distinctly historic in character. It couldn’t help but be otherwise in a region so steeped in the past. But an Orhaniye to Gocek yacht charter is also all about the sailing. Within the bays and around the islands are some of the best cruising grounds in the entire Mediterranean, with sandy beaches ideal for swimming and snorkeling, snug anchorages, and picturesque harbors where restaurants can usually be found. The waters of the Carian Coast are so beautiful, shimmering in the bright sunlight as a gentle warm wind fills the sails, that they are responsible for the area’s nickname: Turkey’s Turquoise Coast. The appellation is quite fitting for such a splendid and special place to explore aboard a graceful yacht.

Göcek Destination

Evidence of its history and just about everywhere in the form of ancient ruins and tombs ensconced amid the tall pines that line the shores and crowd the hills of the Lycian Coast.

Turkey could be considered a very large peninsula, with the Black Sea to the north, the Aegean Sea to the west, and the Mediterranean Sea to the south. Turkey is inextricably linked with the water and its seafaring history spans thousands of years. The earliest culture in present-day Turkey began as far back as 6000 B.C., steadily evolving as the roots of modern civilization took hold in the Middle East. Among the most advanced of the early peoples of Turkey were the Lycians. They occupied the mountainous, heavily forested, and cliff-lined shores of the Mediterranean Sea roughly between Antalya and the Dalyan River. To the west was the land of the Carian people. Today, the Lycian Coast is one of the least crowded cruising grounds in the Eastern Mediterranean and one of the most beautiful. Pine-studded shores, sheer cliffs, beaches (some with pink sand from pulverized coral), numerous coves and bays, and ancient ruins are among the attractions of a Gocek sailing vacation.

OCSC’s Flotillas

If you haven’t been on a flotilla before, here’s how it works. OCSC reserves several boats for the location and holds a series of planning parties to explain the details and answer questions from anyone who is interested. Some members choose to reserve a whole boat with their friends and family; some hook up with other singles or couples to form their own boat; a third option is to charter a cabin on a boat skippered by an OCSC Instructor. These planning meetings are the best way to decide which option works best for you. We suggest that you use them to meet potential shipmates, other skippers, and the OCSC personnel who will be leading the flotilla.

Flotilla charters are ideal for first-time skippers since OCSC helps in cruise planning, introduces individuals to others interested in sharing a yacht, and sends an experienced ‘group leader’ along. The security in this type of ‘buddy-boating’ is one reason for flotilla-style chartering, but the ease of participation, sailing with lots of friends made at the planning parties and multi-boat get-togethers in the evenings make any charter that much more enjoyable.

How to Get Involved

There are three ways to get involved. You can charter your own yacht, let us help you hook up with other members and sailors, or book a cabin on an OCSC Flotilla Leader’s yacht.

  • Option 1: With a small deposit (appx. 15%), you may reserve a boat with your friends or family, or reserve a boat and let us help you find crewmates.
  • Option 2: If you want to go but need to hook up with others on the flotilla, we will help you meet some other sailors to join a boat or set up a crew.
  • Option 3: If you like the idea of learning more while you relax, consider reserving a cabin on one of the OCSC Flotilla Leader yachts. All OCSC flotilla leaders are qualified sailing instructor with years of cruising experience. They make wonderful skippers, and are perfectly willing to make the experience for you as educational as you like. In addition to your share of the charter, you have only an additional skipper fee to pay: $450 per person, double occupancy, or $900 per cabin. If you come as a single, we will work to help you find a cabin mate or you can pay for a full cabin for privacy.
Giving Back to the fragile environment we cherish

Since it’s founding, OCSC has been committed to environmental protection. We have always felt that especially since our business is built on enjoying nature, we are compelled to support organizations that work as guardians for all of us. Part of our approach has been to focus our efforts and appreciation on areas that we are privileged to visit on our bareboat flotillas.

To help this end your participation in our flotilla includes an additional contribution of $50 per person. The funds we collect are donated to an environmental protection initiative in the region we visit.

Yachts range in size from 35–49 feet.

Cost of adventures and flotillas vary depending on factors like attendence, the number of people in your crew, and size of your yacht. Please inquire for trip rates and pricing.
