  • Customer Service Representative

    • Goals

      OCSC Sailing is looking to add an enthusiastic Customer Service Representative to our team! The ideal candidate is an energetic and outgoing individual that's excited about making our sailing club's students and members feel welcome and well taken care of. This role is split between taking care of our clients and general office work, including filing, preparing materials, sending confirmations, etc.

      Applicants do not need to be sailors but a willingness to learn is a big plus, as there is a great advantage in being able to speak about sailing to prospective sailors. Besides, the position comes with free sailing lessons in our award-winning sailing program!

      We are looking for at least one full-time individual or a couple of part-time employees, so students are welcome to apply. Weekends and holidays are our busiest days, so a willingness to work them is a must. OCSC is a professional but fun work environment and there are many opportunities for extra-curricular activities, whether it be club events or after work sailing with co-workers.

    • Responsibilities
      • Provide a high standard of customer service to our clients at all times.
      • Interact with clients face-to-face, over the phone, and via email.
      • Assist clients by listening, assessing and offering solutions.
      • Assess and maintain business orderliness.
      • Count cash drawers.
      • Maintain and administer office paperwork, including filing.
      • Follow written and verbal instructions for office tasks.

  • Club Manager

    • Goals
      • Attract, sell, coach, mentor, delight prospects, clients, members and students in any way you can, while adhering to OCSC's code or conduct and with respect for our customers.
      • Manage membership sales and member/customer service responsibilities with high attention to detail in each.
      • Learn and follow established procedures created by the management team.
      • Creatively solve customer’s problems as well as those of colleagues or of the business.
      • Master and utilize SailDesk reservation system to serve customers.
      • Maintain oversight of environment in the office and areas of needed attention or staff/customers needing help or advice.
      • Occasionally travel for business, from running errands with your car to driving to boat shows, sales presentations, etc.
      • Work creatively, especially, but not exclusively, on the weekends to maximize the numbers of our clients who continue to move forward with their skills and relationship with OCSC.
    • Responsibilities

      Sales Responsibilities

      • Provide members, clients and prospects an OCSC high quality, warm and welcoming greeting.
      • Conduct Club orientation tours.
      • Take incoming and make outgoing sales calls.
      • Welcome and take special care of clients here for their first day.
      • Conduct Client, Member and Instructor quality control debriefs after classes and charters.
      • Student and Member care and follow-up.
      • Handle difficult customer service and Instructor issues;
      • OCSC representation at shows, exhibitions, fund-raisers, etc

       

      Safety Officer Responsibilities

      • Be the safety officer of the day responsible for implementing and disseminating weather related protocols and decisions.
      • Conduct new skipper briefings.
      • Oversee charter clients’ concerns on vessel conditions/readiness for items needing immediate attention.
      • Be prepared to teach classes and give lectures as needed by the training department.

       

      Physical Tasks that may be required

      • Lifting objects over head (e.g. on to and off of shelves); safely climbing a ladder; crouching, bending, and leaning; copying, sorting, and filing paperwork; carrying large drink tubs up and down stairs for activity set up; moving tables and chairs; lifting 30 gallon drink coolers.

  • Fleet Service Technician

    • Goals

      OCSC Sailing is looking for a Fleet Service Technician to join the department that provides service, repairs and preventive maintenance to our fleet of 50 sailing yachts as well as support our mission to provide the most exciting sailing in North America.

    • Responsibilities

      This is a full-time position for general yacht maintenance and care for our fleet of 50 boats ranging in size from 21 to 40 feet. We prefer if you have experience with fiberglass, rigging, boat handling, marine electronics, water systems, and diesel engines. Some exposure to Excel, QuickBooks, inventory management software is a plus.

      This job is perfect for you if you are dependable, organized, good communicator, approachable, coachable, take direction well, capable of leading and initiating, good prioritization skills, and have a willingness to ask for help. Full time with full benefits.

  • Sailing Instructor

    • Goals
      • To provide training, inspiration and a safe learning environment to OCSC’s students and members, as well as the less experienced members of the OCSC staff, to improve the overall sailing ability and enthusiasm for all sailors in contact with OCSC and collaborate with other instructors to improve the curriculum and sail training methods at OCSC.
    • Responsibilities
      • Read and adhere to the policies outlined in the OCSC Employee handbook, Safety Handbook
      • Faithfully implement the OCSC instructor syllabus for each course he or she teaches
      • Acquire a USCG license for carrying passengers for hire within three months of employment along with required First Aid and CPR certifications and keep them current.
      • Acquire a US SAILING Basic Keelboat Instructor Certification within six months of employment.
      • Follow the scheduling guidelines outlined in the Instructor Manual for their category of instructor
      • Present in behavior, grooming, dress and demeanor a professional image as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
      • Complete all educational logs and student progress paperwork, as well as time cards, punctually, accurately and completely
      • Be free of any illegal drugs at all times, and be enrolled in OCSC’s random drug testing program as required by the Department of Transportation.
      • Have no alcohol in his or her system while working for OCSC.
      • Maintain a patient, supportive, empathetic demeanor with students, other boaters, co-workers and colleagues while working for OCSC.
      • Be empathetic toward students while teaching, empathetic toward colleagues while working alongside them and patient with supervisors.  Expect and ask for empathy in return.
      • At all times, use judgment and foresight to make decisions concerning safety, response to elements, emergencies on board or near by.
