Philip Strause

I bit the sailing bug while on my first sailing flotilla vacation in the British Virgin Islands between high school and college. Soon after I was planning my escape aboard anything with a sail.

In college I was invited to join a friend and his father aboard their J/105 racing around the Chesapeake Bay. We had 7 very competitive seasons before I decided to give cruising on my own boat a try.

I found a cheap 1966 Bristol 27 and spent a few seasons exploring the Annapolis region of the Chesapeake. Finally after years of dreaming and with the blessing of my employer (and girlfriend), I took 5 months off to cruise the east coast from Annapolis to Key West.

I moved to California in March of 2015 and was lucky enough to join the OCSC team in May 2015! It has been smooth sailing ever since!
